The Electric Hardtop Hoist, or Motor Winch, is the safest and easiest way to remove and replace any removable hardtop. Our control box is quite small and allows the operator to actually use both hands to maneuver the hardtop away from or onto the car. The motor mounts to the ceiling or wall with just two bolts and can be used with any harness on any hardtop. All IMC hoist systems are continually refined to assure that they remain the safest systems available to remove and replace valuable hardtops. They are designed to precisely fit and balance a hardtop without the need to adjust any buckles, straps or hooks.

The hoist harnesses utilize lightweight aerospace 6061 T6 "drawn" aluminum tubing inside another high-density foam tube. This assembly constitutes a very lightweight and very strong upholstery friendly Support Cradle that will hold a hardtop securely from beneath - avoiding paint and weather stripping - and balance it with a connected harness. It can be mounted to the ceiling at the most convenient spot so just one person can stand next to their car and operate the pulley with one hand and align the hardtop with the other - safely and easily removing and replacing it. The IMC hoist harnesses utilize lightweight aerospace 6061 T6 "drawn" aluminum tubing (not the breakable "extruded" tube) inside another two inch O.D. high-density foam tube with a half-inch wall thickness. This assembly constitutes a very lightweight and very strong upholstery-friendly Support Cradle that holds a hardtop securely from beneath - avoiding paint and weather stripping - and balances it with a connected harness fabricated from seat belt webbing. Manual Hoists are delivered complete with all necessary hardware, Hoisting system and harness to make it safe and easy for one person to confidently remove or replace a hardtop in about five minutes. While securely suspended up and out of harm's way, a cover will protect the hardtop by completely enclosing it to keep it dust free.

Wall mounted BRAKE WINCHES are also available. As with any wall mounted winch, they require TWO PEOPLE to safely operate because they need to be mounted on a wall and are usually too far from the vehicle for one person to reach. More significantly, when replacing the hardtop it must be aligned over the automobile while it is simultaneously being lowered. One person needs to be at the car to hold the hardtop in alignment while someone else operates the winch.

Each unique hardtop shape requires a different configuration of Transporter so that it can be securely supported without marring the paint or weather stripping. Notice in the pictures that our Transporters hold a hardtop without touching the paint. IMC has chosen to construct our Transporters from large diameter steel tube for strength and security and then we have it powder coated with a polyester finish for durability. Four heavy-duty casters are widely spaced to provide stability when moving and the rears are equipped with brakes for safety when parked.

The padded windshield support is locked in place with a steel pin that is easily removed to fold the cart flat for storage. Vinyl coated metal pins keep hardtops securely in place even when rolling over rough surfaces. This sturdy hardtop cart weighs just eight pounds. A soft and nicely fitted cover is included.

When the weather is great, and the hardtop is stored in the garage for the summer, here's a way to protect both the inside and outside while it's not in use.  The cover uses hook & loop fasteners to attach the outer and inner portions of the cover together and it can be used with most hoists that are used to remove hardtops.
